We rehearse every Thursday from September through April, we follow the New Britain Schools Calendar.
Junior Choir runs from 4:45pm to 6:15pm.
Senior Choir runs from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.
Main Street Music Time (preschool through first grade) meet from 5:15pm until 6pm.
Tuition is $300 annually. Tuition is non-refundable and includes weekly Thursday rehearsals, the winter and spring performances, a Team Building Day, outreach performances, a MSCC T-shirt, sheet music, and audio recordings.
Tuition for the Main Street Music Time program (preschool through first grade) is $50 per family, per semester.
New singers will be asked to come in for a brief “voice check” where they will sing one or two short songs for our Music Director (example: Happy Birthday or America the Beautiful) to determine which voice type they are. This is NOT an audition, so there should be no fear of rejection! Returning singers are exempt from voice checks. Voice checks typically are scheduled the week prior to the start of the fall semester, however they can be scheduled throughout the semester if joining late. There is no charge to voice check.
New singers are welcome to try one rehearsal free of charge with the approval of directors. Tuition will be due the following week if you decide to register.
It is our goal to keep the choir accessible to all families regardless of personal or financial background. Therefore, it is our official policy that “no child will be denied membership in The Main Street Children’s Choir due to financial hardship.” Financial aid may be available for families in need. In order to maintain our commitment to artistic excellence, we have adopted the following policies: Children are expected to arrive on time for weekly rehearsals. In general we only allow one absence per semester. If your child will be absent for any reason, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. Repeated tardiness or excessive absences will result in immediate loss of financial aid, if applicable; and may result in suspension from the choir without refund of tuition. The Main Street Children’s Choir is offering a special initiative to area music teachers. For every tuition paying student recruited for our choir, The Main Street Children’s Choir will donate $100 to your school music program for supplies or equipment. To be eligible for this program singers must be new to MSCC and complete a full year. $500 is the maximum donation allowed per school and payments will be made at the end of the academic year.
